first blog ever!!!

I am determined to make this place the area where I deposit all my good news and uplifting breakthroughs. I have been reading Rob Brezsny's book "Pronoia" lately and am totally refreshed by it. It is so important to tell our good stories. I sometimes have a habit of complaining and worrying on my myspace blog. Maybe I can change that too. Although I did read an article a few days ago in Scientific American Mind that journaling negative situations helps the mind stop reliving it while journaling positive emotions tends to intellectualize what is better off as a general good feeling. But I don't think that applies to Blogs. So...last Sunday we had a "Trash to Treasure" community art day at Bread and Bagel. They are so cool, always participating in the community...everyone brought all kinds of supplies, odds, ends, etc...it was a great turn out. Bonny, the organizer, said the Universe seemed to provide everything...she is so cool. Very in touch. I have arranged for her to preach her spoken word poetry at my church later this month..so exciting! Anyway, the event got lots of press in the paper and on TV. I was in a photograph and me working on my artwork was on TV...I took a porous head sculpture and added turquoise beads for eyes and red ones on the mouth and made paper flowers out of a book of wallpaper samples and glued them unto bamboo sticks and stuck them in an area of the sculpture's head that was perfect for something to stick out of and added hemp string that I had painted green with some beads on it for grass. I call it "Fertile Mind." One of the ecology professors was also there and she told me today that they had my piece out in front on the counter. So cool! People will be silently auctioning through Friday. I hope it makes lots of money so Bonny can publish the second issue of the Green 'Zine. See, selfhelp stuff is great and all but the best remedy for ennui is to get out in your community and get involved in something you care about.
